The Potential of Geothermal Energy
Geothermal energy has the potential to ease crises related to global energy demand, reduce pollution caused by other power generation sources, and to truly be the planet’s main source of clean energy.
Along with this, as the United States becomes more self sufficient in its energy consumption, we would not have to deal with the economically damaging fluctuations in energy prices caused by geopolitical instability, international price fixing or commodities speculation.
The country could enjoy an additional source of energy that is inexpensive, stable, clean, and renewable. And realize additional savings of not having to fund the armed forces to protect international sources of oil or having to give excessive amounts of money to foreign countries for their petroleum products.
In addition, increased access to power, especially for developing nations, means increased self reliance, agricultural production, and as a result – global prosperity and stability.
In short, a national energy strategy based on geothermal and other natural renewable power sources would have positive national and international benefits as it revolutionizes the way that power is generated, distributed and used.
